The highly anticipated standalone Fallout 4 mod, Fallout: London, appears to be nearing completion, according to a recent update from its developer. The mod's impending release has generated excitement among fans, especially given the recent surge in popularity of Fallout 4 and other games in the series.
In development since 2019, Fallout: London promises to be much more than just an add-on mod. It features an entirely new region set in post-apocalyptic London, which the development team, FOLON, assures will be roughly the same size as the original game's map. A playable demo was released nearly two years ago, and the team has showcased over a dozen Fallout 4 mods, including new weapons and suits of armor, all intended for use in Fallout: London.
Originally scheduled for release on April 23, the mod was delayed due to the announcement of the Fallout 4 next-gen update, which was set to release just two days later. Game updates can interfere with previously-built mods, prompting the postponement. On July 6, the developers posted a message on Reddit stating that they have submitted multiple builds to the distribution platform GOG and are now "waiting for the final green light." Once GOG completes its checks to ensure the mod and its installer function correctly, the release should be imminent.

While the upcoming release is exciting, it's important to note that Fallout: London will not be available for console players. Project lead Dean Carter announced in April that the mod's file size, approximately 30 to 40 gigabytes, exceeds the capacity supported by current-gen PlayStation or Xbox consoles. This large file size also necessitated the move to GOG, as it is too big for Nexus Mods, the developer's usual platform for sharing content.
Despite the disappointing news for console users, those able to access the new Fallout adventure can look forward to a treat. In addition to the new setting and story, the mod features voice acting by Neil Newbon, known for his role as the vampire rogue Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3. The combination of a fresh storyline, expansive new map, and notable voice talent makes Fallout: London a highly anticipated addition to the Fallout universe.
